The Louis Vuitton cruise 2019 runway show had something for everyone: A flame-haired fashion legend! An army of models in feathered coats! Modern art! Cute kitty cats!
The show was held at the Marguerite and Aimé Maeght Foundation, which exhibits modern and contemporary art in the southern French village Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Models weaved around sculptures by Alexander Calder and Joan Miró as they made their way across the foundation grounds.
Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière paid homage to Grace Coddington, one of the great living eccentrics, through hairstyles and soundtracks, but also by unveiling a collaboration between the former Vogue editor and the French house. She’ll be turning her cat sketches into purses and pajamas for Louis Vuitton.
That fascinating tidbit almost overshadowed the juicy details hiding in the collection, like cowboy hats, clear lab-goggle glasses, and power coats with delicately embroidered lapels. But don’t worry, you can see them all here. Scroll down to see scenes from the runway and the after-party, which featured guests like Ruth Negga, Emma Stone, and Justin Theroux.
